Send Us One Thousand Dollars

The Francis Schaeffer family was looking for a home to rent, and Edith had discovered a chalet that would perfectly meet their needs. It was for sale, though, not for rent. For an hour she fervently prayed for God’s intervention while seeking to know she sincerely wanted God’s will.

As she began to ask God to cause the owner to change his mind and rent the chalet, she suddenly was flooded with the assurance that God can do anything. Her sentence changed in the middle, and she ended her prayer with the plea, “Oh, please show us Thy will about this house tomorrow, and if we are to buy it, send us a sign that will be clear enough to convince Fran as well as me, send us one thousand dollars before ten o’clock tomorrow morning.”

The next morning’s mail brought a check for one thousand dollars from a couple who had never given to them before, but who had prayed for three months to know where to send this amount of money. The husband had felt so impressed that he mail the check immediately rather than on his way to work the next day, that he drove late one night through a blinding rain storm to the Post Office.

The Holy Spirit grants the requests He inspires, not necessarily all our human wants. He will help us request the very things He wants to do.

Thank You, Jesus, that the Spirit is truly at work when we pray.

“Casting the whole of your care-all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all-on Him; for He cares for you affectionately, and cares about you watchfully” (I Peter 5:8 Amplified).

Today's Prayer Request
Pray for women to have a spirit of honesty and humility that gives the Holy Spirit access to their hearts. Pray that they will see their hearts as clearly as they will see them on Judgment Day. Pray that God "will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; [and that] he will purify [His people] and refine them like gold and silver" (Malachi 3:3).

If you would be willing to pray for a list of attendees, please let us know and we will send you a list of names. Thank you to those of you who responded to this request yesterday!
