A Way to Meet Trials Successfully
"At one of our pastorates, our church was going through a very difficult time," our pastor's wife shared. "One morning after my husband left with the girls for school, I sat down at the table. A feeling of depression and discouragement came over me. I realized I could either give vent to this, feel sorry for myself and have a miserable day, or, by God's grace and His Word, could rise above it. I took the Word of God and began to write out promises as fast as I could find them."
"Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
"Draw near to God and he will draw near to you."
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee."
She wrote a whole list and then began to tape them on the mirrors, cupboard doors, refrigerator-all over the house. When the enemy came and tried to insert a thought of depression or discouragement, she had the Word of God right there. She would read it out loud to him, and he had to flee. She had a glorious day as she gained victory over depression and discouragement through His Word.
Thank You, Jesus that You help us to have faith that overcomes the doubts of the day as they arise.
