God's Will for You Is Not Static

When Leta was a high school sophomore, God asked her if she would be a missionary. She replied, "But I'm too young."

He replied, "But you can read and pray until then."

But Leta turned away from God during her teen years and later married. When she came back to God, she thought, My hopes are gone. I'll never get to be a missionary.

Leta told God, "I know I'll never get to go, but I can pray for different countries." Whenever she thought about her call, she would pray for the country God brought to her mind.

She tried to visualize people in countries--especially where it was hot and dry--and her heart would ache for them. She recalls standing by her kitchen sink doing dishes and praying for India. God's presence was so close and she knew He heard her.

She prayed for people in Guatemala, South Africa, and Russia. She said, "You can go anywhere through prayer." One day she asked God to help a missionary win someone for her. She believes that when she gets to Heaven, someone may walk up to her and say, "You prayed for me."

Leta shares her story because there are those who think they have a missed God's calling and feel all is lost. But she has found that God has another plan. When we totally commit our lives to Him, we can be as fulfilled as we would have been if we had obeyed at every point.

Thank You, Lord, that Your plans for us are not static. You have "plans"--not just a plan for our lives.

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'" (Jeremiah 29:11).
"They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed" (Psalm 34:5).
