Some Day We'll See God's Faithfulness

A young mother said she had adopted two children. One had severe problems because of having been sexually and physically abused when small. She prayed much for this child, but it didn't seem God was listening. One day she said, "God, why haven't You performed a miracle?"

He said, "I have. I've given you grace for each day."

Then God also let her see a blessing that had come from her taking care of these children. "I teach a Sunday School class of three- and four-year-olds, and because I see how important it is that they receive love at that young age, I have more of a burden for them."

God is a "God who hides himself" (Isaiah 45:15), and sometimes He sends us His answers while He remains behind the scenes. The answer He sends does not look as if He is in it at all.

How good to know that one day we'll be able to look back and see how faithfully and quickly God answered our prayers.

Luke 18:1-8 is the parable of the persistent widow. Verse 8 says, "I tell you that He will avenge them speedily," and notes in the Wesley Bible say, "God always does the right thing. It may seem to us that He delays. But from His point of view He acts speedily....The truth of the parable applies to any discouraging delays in God's answers: we ought always to pray; we ought never to lose heart."

Jesus, I'm trusting that You are answering my prayer even though I do not see results.

"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deuteronomy 31:8).
