Praise Habits

A friend emailed something she plans to do in 2018: "Fill my free moments with praise. Some times it will be joyful praise from a place of overflowing joy and other times it will be intentional."

What an attitude changer such a habit could be! When our minds are free, there are hundreds of things about which we could be saying, "Thank You, Jesus!"

When David brought the ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem, he appointed worship leaders to give thanks and to praise the Lord. The Levites were "to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening" (1 Chronicles 23:30). God's presence would dwell in the temple in the midst of praise.

Perhaps that symbolizes the pattern God wants us to have in our lives.

A lady told me she has made it her habit to say to Jesus each morning when she awakens, "You are my Prince of Peace, my Deliverer, my Counselor..."

What wonderful ways to welcome His presence each morning and throughout our day.

Jesus, may praise to You be my first thought each morning and a thankful spirit continue throughout my day.

"Your unfailing love is better to me than life itself; how I praise you!" (Psalm 63:3 NLT).

"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name" (Hebrews 13:15).
