Let God Choose

Margaret Clarkson had a great desire to be a missionary on a foreign field but because of poor health was unable to go. Instead she became a teacher in a gold-mining camp in northern Ontario, Canada. Although it was not what she would have chosen and it was a lonely assignment, she knew that this was where God wanted her to serve Him.

One day she was again reading John 20:21, "Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you." While meditating on this verse she wrote the words to a hymn that has become a favorite during missionary conferences, "So Send I You." Words from verse four give her personal testimony of God's call to her:
"So send I you to leave your life's ambition,To die to dear desire, self-will resign."

Maybe after reading these words, we would pity her. But when God calls the Spirit-filled Christian, He gives such a great desire to please Him that to do anything else would be unsatisfying and empty.

Thank You, Lord, that You lead us to do what will ultimately result in the most satisfying life.

"Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who satisfies your desires with good things" (Psalm 103:2, 5).
