Needless Pain
2008-03-01 15:13My husband Daniel was worried about a scientific paper he had co-authored with another physician. He learned that a part of their findings had earlier been reported by someone else and the writer had not given credit to the earlier source.
We were on our way to a meeting where he would see the other writer and he was afraid he would object to citing the earlier researchers. As we walked through the Miami airport, Daniel simply told the Lord about it, asked Him to handle it and then said in amazement, “It’s gone.” The worry he had carried had lifted.
The Lord invites us to live in the land of rest, where He carries all our loads if only we think to ask. The moment we hand them to Him, we arrive in the land of rest. Our faith is our passport. We believe His promises and we find He’s our burden-bearer.
When Daniel mentioned the omission to his co-author, he readily agreed the other investigator should be included. His response might have been that anyway, but without the Miami airport prayer, the worry would have been with him the extra day. How good it is to not have to bear that “needless pain.”
