You Are Not Forgotten
Jesus was in the boat with the disciples when they first encountered a storm (Matt. 8:24), but the second time they were buffeted by the waves, they were alone. Not until about three o'clock in the morning did Jesus appear to them walking on the water and saying, "I am here. Don't be afraid" (Matt. 14:24-27).
Jesus allowed them to be alone in danger much as a loving mother-bird thrusts her babies from the nest to teach them to use their wings. Jesus wanted to strengthen the disciples' faith so they would learn to be confident of His constant presence.
In all their storms of temptation, He would be near. Even when they could not see Him, He would be an ever present help in trouble.
Sometimes it seems as though the Lord has forgotten us, but His eye is on us. At just the right time, we will discover He is with us and that His delay was indeed good.
Thank You, Jesus, that in every situation, You intend to pour out good.
"You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees" (Psalm 119:68).
