The Real Father

Linda became a Christian after she was an adult. She found out that the man she had thought was her father was not her father and she sought to learn who her real father was. When she did, it was not a pretty picture and Linda was emotionally torn apart.

One night in the middle of the night she was reading her Bible and heard God say, “I am your Father.” When she told this, her face lit up with the joy this brought her.

Before the world began, God chose to call us, not servants, but sons and daughters. “His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure” (Ephesians 1:5 NLT).

God is especially concerned about those who have no earthly father and gives them special assurances of His parental care. “Father to the fatherless, defender of widows--this is God, whose dwelling is holy” (Psalm 68:5 NLT).

“See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called his children, and we really are!” (1 John 3:1 NLT).

Give me grace to sense the wonder of calling You Father.
