His Birth Announcement

God allowed His Son to step out of the glories of heaven and enter the earth in the form of a dependent little infant.

Did He not feel the pain of His Son's leaving? As a parent, could we rejoice if we knew we were sending our son out to be ignored, spit upon, tortured, and, perhaps worse of all, knew that we ourselves would have to turn our back on him when he needed us the most?

How could God the Father do that? But even more, how could He do that and celebrate with such an extravaganza of joy?

Surely the angels were taking their cue from God when they sang with great jubilation: "I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people."

When the angels burst through the clouds and shepherds received the most awesome birth announcement that has ever been given, God was ecstatic. He could provide for us a way to have a sacred fellowship with Him. It didn't matter what it cost Him.
"Oh, come, let us adore Him."

Dear Father, I am in awe of the cost You willingly paid to have fellowship with me. Don't let me fail to treasure the greatest gift that I've ever been offered.

"'Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion, for I am coming, and I will live among you,' declares the Lord" (Zechariah 2:10).
