I Have Prayed for You

In The Lost Art of Disciple Making, Leroy Eims told of a missionary who noticed that the churches that were miles away from the city in which he lived seemed to be more dedicated, active, and growing than the church he ministered in regularly.

Finally the Lord showed him why that was so. He realized that because the other churches had no missionary, he prayed far more diligently for people in this distant area than for those with whom he worshipped each week.

A. B. Simpson said that even when we think our prayers have not been effective, they have been more effective than all other efforts.

It will be our prayers that make the most difference in others' lives. Jesus depended on His prayers to protect Simon Peter. He said, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat." He promised to do what He knew would protect him. "But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail" (Luke 22:32).

Our prayers are powerful even when we do not feel they are accomplishing great things.

Thank You, Jesus, for letting me know the most effective way I can encourage others.

"We constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith" (2 Thessalonians 1:11).
