Dr. Thomas H. Hermiz tells of a moment during his junior high days that had a profound impact on his life. Rev. Carl Waggoner was home on furlough from Kenya, Africa and preached in his church one Sunday. Dr. Hermiz remembers standing near Rev. Waggoner as Mrs. Coyle stepped up to greet him. The Coyles were probably the wealthiest family in the church. Mr. Coyle was an executive with IBM and Mrs. Coyle owned the finest children's clothing store in the area.

One evening a friend called. "I thought you had moved," I told her.

"We haven't sold our house," she said, her voice nearly breaking. "That's the reason we didn't come to church Sunday. We couldn't face all the questions we knew everyone would ask. Today we hit bottom."

"I am so tired. I've been traveling from Germany," the lady beside me on the airplane said wearily. I learned she was traveling to Kansas City to see her brother who had had back surgery.

Tears welled up in Dorothy Downey's eyes when the lady ahead of her set a cut-up chicken on the counter in the grocery store. She explained why in an article she sent to our Women Alive! magazine years ago. Thirty one years earlier, she and her husband began pastoring. They had a small daughter, a worn-out car, second-hand furniture, and enthusiasm unlimited! They were joyfully cutting all the corners so they could keep afloat and stay in ministry.

I heard a father say that there is one time his daughters come to him. Usually, he said, they go to their mother with their questions-like what dress should they wear-but there is one time when they come to him, and that is when they get hurt.

When we say God is infinite, we mean there are no limits. There is no limit to His goodness, no limit to His justice, no limit to His love, no limit to His wisdom, no limit to what He can do. We cannot define Him, we cannot limit Him.

I found some notes I had written in an old journal when I was working on one of my books. I had hoped to have three chapters done by Christmas but only had one and a half completed. By the middle of January, I had progressed to chapter three.
