When Lloyd John Ogilive gets out of bed in the morning, he often has what he calls "a goodness time." Aloud he quotes or sings scriptures about the goodness of the Lord. Then he lists recent evidences of the Lord's goodness in his life.

The practice of praise is to be continual, but it will only become that as we discipline ourselves to practice the praise of God.

We each have those in our lives whose spiritual welfare depends upon our faithfulness in prayer. The moment we determine to pray daily, though, Satan seeks to distract us. When we have time to pray, we no longer feel the same inclination and have to fight listlessness. We kneel to pray and wake up fifteen minutes later and think we might as well forget trying. Satan suggests that this is the perfect time to do that cleaning we had postponed.

George Mueller obtained more than $8,000,000 by prayer so he could care for 10,000 orphans. He prayed for and led tens, if not hundreds, of thousands, to the Lord.

“My Father is always at his work” (John 5:17), Jesus assures us. What is His Father’s work? I like to think that His continual work is to show us His love. Every moment, He continues to do what He did when He sent His son. “For God so loved that He gave….” He who is always the same is continually at this work of expressing His love for us.

One mother said she was surprised when her children she and her husband had brought up to fear God, chose to go a different way. Children not following God can bring humiliation to parents, and she had to search her heart. Was she praying for her relief or their souls?
